June 22

I am a singular person and a walking cliche.

I move through the line
Aware of the appearance
Still wondering
How far I can go.

Self awareness is not comfortable
It averages out well if you
stay true and humble
What I think of me matters

In search of healthy conflict
I know the key to surviving
is wrapped in acceptance
Loving east as I move west.

It warms my heart
Enveloped in the bestDaily life I’ve ever known
Alone for the first time.

June 21st

Today I was the eye of the storm. I that means I only stopped to think twice. I feel bad for anyone caught up in the shit storm surrounding me.

My dad came out mostly unscathed. For Father’s Day, I helped him move furniture. If it were up to me, said furniture would probably have been sold in the great purge of 2015. It will be meted out to my two sisters and favorite relatives eventually, unless I score a moving truck when I head west. But that’s something for future me to worry about. Right now, I’m stoked

Now I’m at the Lamp to catch a punk show. It’s just me and another girl who knows the band and the band. Still the eye of the storm, I drew innocent souls into battle without warning. I understand people are real but that doesn’t stop me from being me.

Good band. I miss Shirley burgers.

FOMO?

lampmpf2015I was at the Lamp earlier.

I want to go on record that fear is the mind killer and should not be used for motivation. No matter how cute the acronym is.

Punk Fest 2015

At age 14, I was a punk.  I don’t remember all the details, but the major signs were there.  I frequented the Coffee Cellar, read zines and put RAPE stickers on stop signs all over East Memphis.  I got my ear cartilage pierced at a mall kiosk on a 9th grade field trip and I threw a punk-tacular fit when my parents held me down to rip it out.  According to the millenial punk rating system, the music I like from that era qualifies me as a fifth level punk.  So you can trust me when I say the 3rd annual Memphis Punk Festival is worth your attention.  Continue reading Punk Fest 2015

This must be India because HOLY COW.  I don’t even know where to start so I guess the beginning works best…

I went out last night looking for something low key to get started.  Chess night at The Lamplighter is always a good choice.  From there, I was launched into an evening of the unexpected.

Musical Chairs

I set out early last night with a plan.  The gods chortled as I was  derailed by caffeine (or lack thereof), low funds, and excessive anticipation.  Fun was had, but I had a slow start finding it.

Hark, rainbows! I’m sure I wasn’t the only one walking around yesterday staring at the eastern sky. There is just something about light refracting through water droplets that makes me feel like a silly little girl. And the good omen cliche held true – it was a glorious night as I flitted about Madison Avenue in search of fun. I managed to chill out and party like a rock star all at the same time.

Must Be The Moon – !!!

I am glad the rain held off until after dark yesterday. Not only did it make for a great day to be out and about, but the overnight thunderstorm did NOT knock out my power (for once). So today I’m going to start what I hope to be a regular Monday installment – Weeknight Wheelin’. … *blink* … or maybe something less lame.

Aaaanyway… here are some things happening this week. Continue reading Must Be The Moon – !!!
