Oh Christ.

I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful Christmas day.  Mother Earth did her part so feel free to relax and enjoy the splendor.  When the day turns to night and you wake up from that day-drinking nap, there are a few options for things to do.  Here’s my list of fun, friendly places to grab a seat and let go of another season’s worth of guilt and familial obligations.

For anyone subjected to an overly Christ-y Christmas, there’s a free rock/metal DJ night at the Hi Tone.  Guaranteed to balance out all the piety you’ve absorbed since O’ Holy Night, this party will be loud and heavy.  When you’re visiting the Devil for the holidays, expect it to get hot.

If you’re in the mood for something with less ruckus, The Pumping Station is reliably open, as always.  They boast an impressive lineup of attractive bartenders and in my head they are all wearing Santa hats.  Maybe there’s mistletoe involved too, who knows?

And of course, The P&H is hosting a Christmas Comedy Spectacular starting around 10pm.  If your holidays have you so stressed you have to laugh just to keep from crying then this is the place for you.  Hosted by Stephen Kline and Jowa Horn, this show will assuredly make you feel better about your situation, no matter how bad it seems.  Many popular local comics are rumored to appear – but only if you tip the bartendress extravagantly.
